If you’ve been lurking in the racing community lately, you know the engine noise is getting deafening. Forza Horizon 6 is officially the most anticipated racer in years, and we now have the receipts to prove it.
Reports from analytics firm Alinea Analytics indicate that the game has already moved 500,000 units on Steam alone—and that’s with the official launch still a full month away.

By the Numbers: A Pre-Launch Powerhouse
While Forza has always been a heavy hitter for Xbox, these Steam numbers are unprecedented for the franchise this far out from release.
Metric | Achievement |
Steam Pre-Sales | ~511,000 units |
Estimated Revenue | $28M – $30M (Steam only) |
Steam Wishlists | 3.3 Million+ |
Release Date | May 19, 2026 |
It’s important to remember these figures don't even include the Microsoft Store sales or the millions of players waiting to jump in via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on day one.
Why is the Hype So High?
It’s not just "another racing game." Several factors have converged to create a perfect storm of hype for this installment:
1. The Dream Setting: Japan
After years of fan requests, Playground Games finally pulled the trigger on Japan. From the neon-soaked streets of a stylized Tokyo to the winding touge runs of Mount Fuji, the map is reportedly the series' largest and most vertical yet.
2. A Return to Roots
Fans are buzzing about the return of the classic Wristband career progression. Unlike the "you're already a superstar" vibe of the last two games, FH6 is taking us back to being a nobody who has to earn their way into the elite circles of the Horizon Festival.
3. Current-Gen Focus
This is the first Forza Horizon built exclusively for the Xbox Series X|S and modern PC hardware. By leaving the older consoles behind, the developers have pushed the ForzaTech engine to deliver better lighting, more dense traffic, and more reactive weather.

What’s Next?
A massive spike in pre-orders occurred on April 13th, following the reveal of the official achievement list. Interestingly, the community celebrated the removal of the "Eliminator" (Battle Royale) mode from the core achievement requirements, opting instead for a focus on pure racing and collection.
If the current momentum holds, analysts project Forza Horizon 6 could clear 2 million units on Steam within its first 24 hours.
Early Access Tip: If you can’t wait until May 19, the Premium Edition grants "Advanced Access" starting May 15, 2026.
